Nissan has been trying to research on some of the best automotive technologies and they have already come up with some really good vehicles and engine technologies. The company has now announced that the Nissan DeltaWing has been named one of the Popular Sciences 2012 Best of What’s New for the December 2012 issue. The winners are selected in 12 categories and 100 top tech innovations represent the list. Nissan said that the DeltaWing made its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.
The company claims that this racecar offers half the weight, half horsepower, half aerodynamic drag of a typical Le Mans sports car and still consumes only half the fuel of a typical sports car. The vehicle has unconventional specifications which makes it unique from other vehicles in the race and it can still reach 200 miles per hour speed using the same amount of power that is used in family sedans and compete the 600 horsepower vehicles in Le Mans races. Darren Cox Nissan’s Global Motorsport Director said that they wanted to build a vehicle that consumes half the fuel and half the requirements of typical Le Mans vehicles and still manages to beat them in the race.
