Such a question is posed for the new Lana Del Rey and Jaguar music video—cum—commercial. It features the “Burning Desire” original song by Lana del Rey who also appeared in the video.
Who Is Lana Del Rey?
Born Elizabeth Woolridge Grant in June 21, 1986, Lana del Rey is an American singer songwriter Songwriter . She started at a the young age of 18 and went on to release her debut album at age 22. Her first album came out in January 2010, and she was able to release her first music video in 2011. Her music videos were known for their cinematic sounds and their association with pop culture (1950-1960’s era) Americana.
However in 2012, Lana del Rey was named Jaguar’s new figurehead and would eventually appear in the ad mentioned above. To start off with the promotions, del Rey sang her current hit “Burning Desire” at the Paris motor show wearing a white sundress with a fiery red lip color for emphasis.

Burning Desire is an original composition by del Rey and Justin Parker. Just like any other love song, it focused on the usual tragedy and the pains of falling in love. However, the meaning does not follow through in the Jaguar
F-Type Commercial.
News had been circulating that del Rey signed a hefty six-figure contract with the luxury automobile company to become its new face. It was only a little over a month after signing the contract that the commercial was launched.
Much like any other car advertisement, it focused on the car and its powerful features with the song (Burning Desire) playing in the background. The three-minute video-cum-commercial has all the trademark of a Lana del Rey music video- her sultry singing voice, vintage Americana feel and retro style. Nonetheless, it had all the Jaguar video features too like the infamous red car, speedometer shots and driving along dangerous curves.
Is it a Video or Commercial, It’s Both
Now we have come to the question we asked in the first part, is it a music video or a commercial. Fans say it’s a music video, marketing executives say it’s a car advertisement, oh well, as an spectator, it can be up to you to decide and since it has been said by both sides, then we can consider this as an influx of both. It’s a fusion of both creative art and advertising genius for an artist and a car brand. This new Jaguar commercial is definitely not for the mediocre to appreciate. It’s a taste of both classic and artistic view on the luxurious side of things.
