BMW has remained among the top automakers that focus on introducing new technologies that can make the entire driving experience easier. Now, with the help of BMW ConnectedDrive, the automaker has decided to introduce better location based services that consumers can use through their smartphone and mobile devices. BMW believes that with the introduction of apps users can find out more relevant information no matter wherever they are and that will allow BMW users to get their location based services. However, while sharing more information on the new technology BMW Group Research and Technology said that it is challenging to filter the information and ensure that the preferences and needs of the users are taken into account. Currently, BMW has said that they are working on delivering virtual marketplace of the future which is their new project.
BMW is focusing on clubbing some of the new technologies that will make it convenient for the users to get the information even while they are in their vehicles. BMW said that the vehicles of the future will deliver and provide customers with preference-based and context related information which is relevant to their route. For this BMW Group Research and Technology has already joined hands with SAP that has developed a cloud based virtual marketplace solution. This software will be integrated in BMW prototype in-car software system and together it will filter out lot of preference based information which is generated by location based service providers. BMW and SAP believes that their joint partnership will offer high level of convenience and comfort to the drivers in the future.
