Getting a Chevrolet is not only a dream for elders who can have the money to buy and drive a real Chevrolet Camaro but also for kids who are too young for it. However, Chevrolet and Hot Wheels are now joining hands. They will make this dream possible for kids who love to have their own Chevrolet Camaro. Kids love to play with Hot Wheels cars and therefore Hot Wheels decided to create the Hot Wheels Camaro Concept. It debuted at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.
This cool sexy car from Chevy draws inspiration from one of the very first 16 Hot Wheels toys ever released. Yep, it’s the iconic “Custom Camaro” from 1968!

Back then, that little toy featured a dazzling Spectraflame finish that caught everyone’s eye. Fast forward to 2011, and the Chevy team went all out to recreate that vibrant Hot Wheels look. They spent a lot of time perfecting it. Their hard work yielded this mesmerizing glowing green chrome finish—a process they applied first to a car. Talk about nostalgia meeting innovation!
General Motors Design studio in Michigan and Hot Wheels Design studio in California collaborated on this project. Each studio first make a sketch of their Custom Camaro. They exchanged their sketches and ideas and visions until they reach a common goal of making the best Custom Camaro toy model.
This project was a collaborative teamwork between General Motors Design studio in Michigan and Hot Wheels Design studio in California. Phil Zak, GM Design Director said that Camaro has always remained one of the best toy models in Hot Wheels list since 1968 and many generations have grown up playing the same toy models and later grown up to drive the same car for real. However, it’s time for the company to make some changes to the new Chevrolet Camaro. It is time to make it more exciting for the next generation and for the studios as well.
Exterior
This custom Camaro not only turns heads with its unique paint job but also proudly displays Hot Wheels badging. This badging is on the front grille, quarter panels, door sills, and rear deck lid. You even see it embroidered on the front seatbacks. One of the best muscle cars in terms of styling. It features the aggressive ZL1 grille and spoiler, a sleek black body kit wrapping around the car, and striking 20-inch wheels adorned with a bold red accent stripe. You’ll love the Euro-style taillamps and rear fascia that add a touch of sophistication, along with a sleek black stripe running down the middle and a black aluminum hood insert complete with milled hood vent extractors.
Interior
Step inside this spiciest car of all time, and you’ll find a cabin that’s just as impressive. Fancy pedals invite you to take a seat, while red lighting bathes the footwells and cup holders, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The black and red interior theme ties everything together, making you feel like you’re in something truly special.
Performance
When it comes to performance, do not expect it to be like the Z/28. However, this Hot Wheels Camaro doesn’t hold back. The coolest features include bigger Brembo brakes for serious stopping power. The designers lowered it to achieve that perfect stance and features a strut tower brace to enhance handling. Additionally, the designers fitted it with a new exhaust system and the powerful 6.2-liter LS3 V8. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, ensuring that every drive is a thrilling experience.
Chevy may see this as just a concept. However, Hot Wheels fans can look forward to snagging a 1:64 scale model of this beauty very soon. Get ready to bring a piece of this dream car home!
